Pearsall, Victor (1915-)

Born in Luseland, Saskatchewan, on March 31, 1915, Victor Pearsall was a successful entrepreneur and aviator. At the age of 15, he was the youngest licensed pilot in Canada and later embarked on a decade-long career as a bush pilot in northern Saskatchewan. Pearsall also operated itinerant and permanent cinemas across rural Saskatchewan beginning in 1937. His additional business interests included a fish filleting and freezing plant, a fly-in fishing and tourist camp at Cree Lake, and a resort/tourist centre in Cochin. Pearsall also earned the distinction of being Canada's oldest licensed pilot after a record sixty-five years of flying. In 1986, the provincial government named Pearsall Lake in his honour and he was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 1995.
