The Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan
About the Encyclopedia

We have tried to make the Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan as “user-friendly” as possible. To that end, there are several search functions which will help you to find the information that is of interest to you.

1. The Subject Index
Entries in the Encyclopedia have been sorted into 22 subject areas. These appear on the left-hand side of the home page or may be accessed by clicking on the BROWSE BY SUBJECT links at the top or bottom of each page. If you click on any of these subjects (e.g. Health), you will be presented with a list of all entries in the Encyclopedia related to that subject. You can then click on individual entries that are of interest to you.

2. Entry List
If you wish to see all of the entries in the Encyclopedia, just click the link at the top or bottom of a page which states ENTRY LIST (A-Z). Once there, you will see an alphabetical listing of all entries. You can then click on the entry which interests you.

3. Contributor Index and Image Index
Do you want to know who wrote what? Simply click on the CONTRIBUTOR INDEX at the top or bottom of a page. You will then be directed to an alphabetical listing of all contributors. You can then click on individuals names to see the listings which that person has written. Similarly, if you are interested in the images which appear in the Encyclopedia, click on the IMAGE INDEX at the top or bottom of a page. You will then see all the images which are found in the Encyclopedia, sorted alphabetically. Click on the image, and you will be taken to the entry in which it appears.

4. Cross-referencing
Within individual entries, you will sometimes see words that are CAPITALIZED AND UNDERLINED. If you click on these, you will automatically be linked to another entry, which have more specific information on these words.

If you encounter any problems in navigating the Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan, you can email us by clicking on the “envelope” icon that appears in the top row, to the right, on the home page.
