Born with spastic paralysis on July 12, 1928, a determined Arthur Wallman of Kelvington overcame his disability and worked as a successful musician, singer, and broadcaster. From 1952 to 1957, Wallman played with Regina band “Johnny Manz Radio Rangers.” In 1960, he began his broadcasting career at CKSW in Swift Current, and for the next thirty-six years was known as “the voice of Swift Current.” Wallman also led the dance band “Art Wallman and the Ambassadors.” He produced a record in 1982 and published his autobiography three years later. In 1989, Wallman received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit and a Heritage Award for his contributions to country music.
