Born on May 12, 1932, Arthur Wakabayashi's career with the federal and provincial public service spanned more than thirty-five years. Provincially, he has served as Deputy Finance Minister, vice-chair of the Saskatchewan Securities Commission, and as Regina's honorary consul-general of Japan. Federally, he has held the positions of Assistant Deputy Minister to the Solicitor General, economic development coordinator, and Saskatchewan's representative in the Canada-US Free Trade negotiations. In 2004, he was elected to his second term as chancellor of the University of Regina. Wakabayashi received the Lieutenant-Governor's medal of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada in 1988, and was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2001.
