Saskatchewan’s most decorated Aboriginal war veteran, George Terry, dedicated much of his life to the service of his country and community. Born on May 30, 1923, he served in World War II and the Korean War as a medic, supply officer, and parachutist. After retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, Terry volunteered with Senior Citizens Action Now in Moose Jaw, the Moose Jaw Aboriginal Association, the Moose Jaw Royal Canadian Legion, and the Moose Jaw City Council Race Relations Committee. He also spent his time as a counsellor with various organizations. In addition to being appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1997, Terry received thirteen armed forces medals. George Terry passed away on February 8, 2009 in Bow Island, Alberta.
