Born on June 2, 1912, a pioneer in Saskatchewan broadcasting, Edward Rawlinson of Qu’Appelle became Canada’s youngest chartered accountant in 1934. His keen business sense led to the purchase of numerous radio stations across Saskatchewan and Manitoba beginning with Prince Albert’s CKBI in 1946. Eventually, Rawlinson organized his group of radio and television stations into Rawlco Communications Ltd., of which he was chairman. Ed Rawlinson figured prominently in many community, provincial, and national organizations such as the Western Association of Broadcasters, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and the University of Saskatchewan Board of Governors. In 1989, he received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. He died on August 8, 1992.
