Born on December 18, 1921, Estevan native Myrl Leyton-Brown has been a proponent of Canadian unity for several decades. Having earned a BA and MA from the University of Regina, Leyton-Brown was president of the Regina and Saskatchewan Canada Week committees and director of the Council for Canadian Unity. She helped launch the successful Encounters With Canada program in 1982, serving as provincial chair until 1990. Myrl Leyton-Brown's numerous honours and awards include the Queen's Silver and Golden Jubilee Medals, the Canada 125 Medal, and the Order of Canada in 1985.
