A distinguished World War II Aboriginal veteran, Henry Langan was born on June 12, 1912 and grew up on the Cote Reserve. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces, earning numerous military decorations between 1941 and 1946. After his release from the army, he farmed on the reserve and served on the band council. In 1966, Langan became involved in Indian politics through his work with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and the National Assembly of First Nations. For his promotion of education and continued spirituality for Indians, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1984. Langan died on February 9, 1990.
