Born in the Perdue-Arelee region of Saskatchewan on August 18, 1914, Dr. John G. Egnatoff has devoted his career to teacher training and education administration. Having earned his BPaed from the University of Toronto, Egnatoff taught in Saskatchewan rural and urban schools from 1935 to 1958. In the early 1960s, he served as an advisor on teacher training to the federal ministry of education in Nigeria. He was professor and head of the department of educational administration at the University of Saskatchewan from 1968 to 1975, and was later named Professor Emeritus of Education. Dr. Egnatoff has also been active in political and community life as Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly for Melfort and a member of the First Baptist Church in Saskatoon. His many honours include the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal and the Order of Canada in 1981.
