Organized hamlet, is a resort community on the east end of Barrier Lake, roughly 20 km south of Bjorkdale, just west of Greenwater Lake Provincial Park. The community’s name refers to an early nearby crossing of the Barrier River. Barrier Ford has a small number of permanent residents (there were 40 recorded in 2006); however, the population of the resort varies widely depending on the season. The area is popular for fishing, boating, camping, and swimming, and there is a nine-hole golf course nearby. Barrier Ford was established as an organized hamlet in 1986 and is situated in the RM of Bjorkdale No. 426.
