A selfless volunteer from Saskatoon, Grace Davis Pine’s devotion to numerous worthy causes earned her the Order of Canada in 1997. Born on January 12, 1910, and a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Pine worked at the Saskatoon Sanitarium laboratory until 1973. Meanwhile, she helped children in developing nations through her work with Save the Children. Pine founded the Saskatoon chapter of the organization in 1967 and occupied various posts at regional and national levels. She devoted her time to peace organizations, environmental groups and cultural associations including the Saskatoon Symphony, Mendel Art Gallery, and Western Development Museum. Grace Pine died on June 22, 2002.
