Born on May 29, 1926, Douglas Lee combined a long career in broadcasting with years of community involvement in fraternal, civic, and veterans' organizations. In 1959, he began working as production manager of Regina's CKCK-TV. He was promoted to operations manager in 1968 and administration and community relations director in 1971. In addition to his service to broadcasting, Lee's work for the community included chair of the Regina United Way and president of both the Regina Chamber of Commerce and the Ranch Ehrlo Society. He has also been active in the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1985.
