Born in 1904, Brother Methodius Koziak, a noted Ukrainian Catholic educator at St. Joseph’s College in Yorkton, organized a community lobby that successfully introduced Ukrainian-language legislation into the curriculum of the Saskatchewan Department of Education. He subsequently taught Ukrainian language fundamentals at the Sheptytsky Institute in Saskatoon for two years and authored For a lifetime of service to education and Ukrainian Canadians, Brother Koziak was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1974. He died on April 4, 1981.
