Alan Hoffman was the second son born to Alma (Fitzner) and Irving Hoffman in Ebenezer, Saskatchewan (siblings Larry, Barry, and Joan). After high school in Yorkton, he attended the University of Alberta and Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto where he became a social worker.
His stage name was Guy Big. He appeared in the children's television series The Hilarious House of Frightenstein as the Midget Count, and the movie Find the Lady as Miniature Man. He also appeared in the King of Kensington episode "Tiny's Job" as the character Tiny Russell, and was a guest on The Tommy Hunter Show.
Hoffman lost his fight to throat cancer on May 2, 1978.
