A devoted Christian educator, Henry Peter Hildebrand was born in Steinfeld, Russia on November 16, 1911. He immigrated to Canada in 1925 and a decade later founded Briercrest Bible Institute in Briercrest, which under his guidance has grown into the Briercrest Family of Schools. Hildebrand also served as director of the Canadian Sunday School Mission and president of the Association of Canadian Bible Colleges. He was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1979 and named Chancellor Emeritus of Briercrest Family of Schools in 1996.
