Canadian Artists Representation / Front Des Artistes Canadiens (CARFAC) Saskatchewan

CARFAC Saskatchewan was organized in 1983, amalgamating two groups of artists centred around Regina and Saskatoon who had met informally since the 1970s to address the concerns of artists. CARFAC Saskatchewan is a non-profit provincial cultural organization. Its board of directors comprises practicing visual artists, and its membership includes students, practicing visual artists, artists from other disciplines, museums and art galleries, educational institutions, and other individuals and organizations with an interest in visual art. Full membership, which includes voting privileges, is reserved for professional visual artists resident (or normally resident) in Saskatchewan. The International Association of Artists (IAA) defines a “professional artist” as one who earns a living through art-making; possesses a diploma in an area considered to be within the domain of the fine arts; teaches art in a school of art or applied art; whose work is often seen by the public or is frequently or regularly exhibited; or is recognized as an artist by consensus of opinion among professional artists. CARFAC Saskatchewan membership includes membership in CARFAC National, the national voice of visual artists across Canada.
