One of the world’s most accomplished baton twirlers, Stacy Singer was born in Regina on April 12, 1977. At age 8, Singer won a gold medal in the junior division at the 1985 World Baton Twirling Championships in Germany and became the youngest Canadian baton twirler to compete at a world event. She went on to place first at every provincial and national freestyle twirling championship from 1985 until her retirement in 1993. During those years, Singer won seven individual gold medals at World Baton Twirling Championships. She also collected the 1991 world team baton twirling championship medal as a member of the Regina Buffalo Gals. The only competitor to have ever won two gold medals at a world event, Singer was a three-time grand national champion. Her many honours include being named Canadian Sports Federation Junior Athlete of the Year in 1985, 1989 and 1990, as well as 1992 SaskSport Female Athlete of the Year. Singer was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
