The Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO) is a non-profit, non-government association of health agencies in Saskatchewan. It provides leadership, support and services to more than 160 members, including Saskatchewan’s regional health authorities, independent hospitals and special care homes, and various agencies and associations that provide health services, education and regulation.
While collective bargaining is its best-known service, members also use SAHO to provide high-quality, low-cost services in the areas of labour relations, payroll, workplace health and safety, education for board members and employees, advocacy and communications, employee benefit plans, and materials management. SAHO has the broadest membership and the widest range of services of any provincial health care association in Canada.
The association has consistently supported and advocated for a seamless system of client-centred health services, democratic participation in the health system, teamwork among health professionals, and sustainable, adequately funded health care.
SAHO was formed in 1993 through the amalgamation of the Saskatchewan Health-Care Association (est. 1918), the Saskatchewan Association of Special Care Homes (est. 1953), and the Saskatchewan Home Care Association (est. 1981). It merged with the Hospital Systems Study Group in 1995. SAHO has a head office located in Regina, and a branch office in Saskatoon.
