Armstrong, Grace (ca. 1867-1960)

Born about 1867 in New Zealand, Grace Armstrong graduated from Otage University. In 1908 she came to Regina as did her younger sister, Nora Armstrong, a graduate nurse who became one of the first public health nurses in the city. Initially, Dr. Armstrong was in private practice, but during the war years she became a public school dentist, serving from 1917 until her retirement in 1935. A supporter of women's suffrage, she also became active in several women's organizations such as the University Women's Club, the Women's Canadian Club, and Women's Musical Club. Other involvements included the Natural History Society and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She died on January 5, 1960, in Regina.
