Rose, Gerald F. (1920-99)

Admired for a lifetime of volunteer service, Gerald Rose was born in Saskatoon on October 26, 1920. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BA in 1940 and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals until 1945. Rose returned to Saskatoon and joined his father’s dry-cleaning and fur business, eventually becoming general manager and president. He lent his business expertise to numerous organizations and contributed to the financial success of the 1979 Western Canada Summer Games and the 1989 Jeux Canada Games in Saskatoon. Rose served on the Saskatoon Economic Development Board and the St. Paul’s Hospital Board. Committed to his community, Gerald Rose was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1998. He died on March 25, 1999.
