Saskatchewan’s first emblem was the shield of arms granted by King Edward VII in 1906. In 1986 it became part of the Saskatchewan Coat of Arms granted by Queen Elizabeth II. The Saskatchewan Flag was adopted in 1969. Official symbols are defined in the Provincial Emblems and Honours Act (see Table ES-1 below).
